When using oils, there are precautions to take. As for flaxseed oil, you need to find out carefully how many drops to take depending on the condition, since each condition is different. In my book "Guiding the patient toward herbal treatment," I covered the subject of flax. It is used mainly for external treatments, such as hemorrhoids, by applying a cotton pad soaked in flaxseed oil to the painful area.
I advise against taking flaxseed oil orally, except when it is contained in a syrup or dietary supplements used against hemorrhoids or constipation.
What the science says: omega-3s
What published research says about the remedies mentioned above, for context — these studies concern material causes, while healing belongs to Allah.
Omega-3s
Omega-3 fatty acids (fatty fish, flaxseed oil, capsules) reduce the risk of cardiovascular events according to a meta-analysis of 13 trials (J Am Heart Assoc, 2019), with a dose-dependent effect (Mayo Clin Proc, 2021); they also reduce joint inflammation (Arch Med Res, 2012) and are being studied for mood disorders (PLoS One, 2014). Precaution: at high doses they thin the blood — seek medical advice if you are on blood thinners or before surgery; choose a quality oil that hasn't oxidized.
