Remedies for health problems in menopausal women

Remedies for health problems in menopausal women: Professor Akim Bouterra's advice, complemented by what research says (menopause, spiritual remedy), the precautions to know, and our resources to go further.

After about ten years of menopause, you may develop arthritis; in that case it is good to use camel milk and devil's claw, a plant that is a natural anti-inflammatory available in capsule form, for the pain. It is also good to take natural plant estrogens found in soy. This comes in capsule form, or as flour as well. It can be eaten with honey, or as an ingredient in bread.

For neck pain, the woman can do hijama.

As for stress, she should perform ruqyah on herself. The woman should always make sure to say supplications ("dhikr"), without forgetting those after the five prayers, to set herself a Qur'an reading program, and to perform voluntary acts such as fasting or prayer.

Also apply olive oil over the whole body. The cause may also come from a sin, so charity and good deeds should be given to erase it. To relax there is a plant, linden, and the woman can drink two cups of infusion every evening before sleeping, and she should not forget to perform ruqyah before sleeping either. In addition, she can consume talbina, which contains antidepressant elements.

Stress can lead to what is called irritable bowel syndrome; this problem should be addressed first, then fiber and olive oil should be consumed to avoid constipation.

What the science says: menopause, spiritual remedy

What published research says about the remedies mentioned above, for illustration purposes — studies examine material causes, but healing belongs to Allah.

Menopause

Sage, red clover, black cohosh, and soy have been evaluated for hot flashes, with variable but real results for some women (Adv Nutr, 2025); exercise, calcium, and vitamin D protect bones after menopause (JAMA Netw Open, 2019), and plants used for menopausal hair loss have been reviewed (Front Pharmacol, 2025). Precaution: plants with estrogenic effects are not recommended in cases of a history of hormone-dependent cancer — ask your doctor for advice.

The spiritual remedy: legislated ruqyah

Legislated ruqyah — recitation of the Qur'an, authentic supplications, Qur'an-infused water, honey and black seed — is the first of the remedies in the professor's teaching, and it lies by its very nature beyond the scope of scientific studies: it is an act of faith grounded in revelation. It in no way conflicts with medical treatment; the Prophet ﷺ said: "Seek treatment, for Allah has not sent down a disease without sending down a cure for it." Precaution: be wary of anyone who claims to heal through talismans, incomprehensible formulas, or by asking for the mother's name — this is not legislated ruqyah; and never abandon medical treatment on the grounds of a supposed occult cause.
