When the level of protein in the urine is too high, this is called proteinuria, and often albuminuria when it is albumin that is too present. The causes can be multiple, such as overconsumption of certain beverages or an infectious disease that comes with fever.
To get rid of this problem, it is advisable to eat leeks, especially in broth. But also, green beans, dried beans, grains, and seeds will be your allies if you are prone to proteinuria.
In the past, gum arabic was widely used for urinary problems: take a small spoonful, ground, diluted in a glass of water, and drink it between meals.
What the science says: kidneys and urinary tract
What the published research says about the remedies mentioned above, for context only — the studies address material causes, while healing belongs to Allah.
Kidneys and urinary tract
Cranberry reduces the risk of recurrent urinary tract infections in certain people according to the Cochrane review (Explore, 2024); for kidney stones, abundant hydration and diet (citrate, less salt and animal protein) are the best-supported measures (Minerva Urol Nephrol, 2025) (Arch Ital Urol Androl, 2015). Orthosiphon, cherry stems, and birch have a draining effect. Precaution: a urinary tract infection with fever or lower back pain is pyelonephritis — antibiotics are essential; in case of kidney failure, do not take diuretic herbs or magnesium/potassium without medical advice.
