Ibn al-Qayyim speaks of fumitory in the chapter dealing with frankincense. This plant has a regulating activity on bile flow, but it is also depurative and diuretic. It is effective for treating intestinal disorders of biliary origin, heart rhythm disorders, and arterial problems.
Fumitory is taken as an infusion: for this, put two teaspoons of the flowering tops in 150 ml of boiling water and let it infuse for 10 minutes, then strain it all. Drink one cup 30 minutes before meals.
In case of flare-ups, such as heart rhythm disorders or high blood pressure, the infusion can be taken between meals. For people with heart and lung problems, it is possible to use fumitory in capsules dosed at 400 mg of powder, three to six per day. If the person chooses 250 mg capsules, three to four should be taken. As a general rule, three capsules should be taken per day, between meals with a large glass of water.
Fumitory is effective for the skin as a compress, and for memory problems, also along with hijama (cupping). Indeed, it contains more than a hundred components, such as alkaloids and protopine. It also contains acids such as fumaric acid.
Moreover, it has been ranked among the best medicinal plants thanks to its validated properties and its many uses. Furthermore, it is beneficial as a GABA receptor, essentially for the proper functioning of the nervous system.
