Before discussing gemmotherapy, it should be noted that plants such as chasteberry have a beneficial effect on endometriosis, as does German chamomile, particularly for pain. Certain oils rich in gamma-linolenic acid, such as evening primrose oil and borage oil, are also beneficial.
Generally, the ideal plant for gemmotherapy is the young shoot of raspberry. This regulates and stimulates ovarian function and is antispasmodic. Grapevine buds are also ideal for treating hemorrhages linked to fibroids. It should be noted that a woman must make sure that the products used for gemmotherapy do not contain alcohol. Furthermore, it would be ideal to use this therapy alongside herbal medicine.
What the science says: fertility
What published research says about the remedies mentioned above, for context only — the studies address material causes, while healing belongs to Allah.
Fertility
The Cochrane review shows that antioxidants (zinc, selenium, vitamins C and E, coenzyme Q10) can improve male fertility (Cochrane, 2022); lifestyle-related oxidative stress is a major cause of male infertility (World J Mens Health, 2019) and the Mediterranean diet supports female fertility (Am J Obstet Gynecol, 2023); an anti-inflammatory diet reduces endometriosis pain (Front Nutr, 2023). Precaution: hormonal plants (chasteberry, sage, ginseng) should not be combined with an ART (assisted reproduction) treatment without the medical team's input; this should be a joint decision, over a minimum of three months.
