In order to detox from heavy metals, antioxidants are the best way to go. Among the well-known antioxidants are garlic and onion. Garlic is used in juice blended with fruits and vegetables.
For this detox, vegetables like broccoli and cabbage are favored, as a source of potassium and antioxidants. Juices made with broccoli, cabbage, and garlic are very effective, as is celery juice, not forgetting vitamin C with orange and beet juices. Pineapple is also a fruit worth favoring.
As a dietary supplement, chlorella is recommended, which, with the chlorophyll it contains, helps eliminate toxins. In this 21-day detox, the first week should begin with one capsule in the morning and two before bed; the second week, two capsules in the morning and four in the evening; and finally, the last week, three capsules in the morning and four in the evening.
In addition, cystine provides stability between proteins and enzymes. This amino acid, found in foods like egg whites, garlic, onion, broccoli, and cabbage, helps draw out toxins, and the dosage is one capsule each morning.
Finally, to protect the liver, milk thistle is recommended. Using turmeric and ginger in meals is also effective for drawing out toxins.
What the science says: detox and drainage, garlic
What published research says about the remedies mentioned above, for context only — these studies concern material causes, while healing belongs to Allah.
Detox and drainage
The body "detoxifies" itself through the liver, kidneys, intestines, skin, and lungs: supporting this process involves fiber (Am J Clin Nutr, 2022), hydration, fasting (BMJ, 2025), liver-supporting plants such as milk thistle (World J Gastroenterol, 2017), and physical activity. Aggressive "cleanses" have no proven benefit and carry risks (Am J Gastroenterol, 2009). Precaution: no purges or enemas without medical advice, and no detox course during pregnancy; heavy metal "chelators" should only be used by prescription.
Garlic
Garlic lowers blood pressure in people with hypertension and improves cholesterol, according to a meta-analysis of clinical trials (J Nutr, 2016) confirmed by a recent update (Nutr Rev, 2026). Precaution: large amounts of raw garlic thin the blood (anticoagulants, surgery); the hadith recommends not going to the mosque with its odor on one's breath — cook it or take it in capsule form in the evening instead.
