Konjac for weight loss

Konjac for weight loss: Professor Akim Bouterra's advice, complemented by what research says (weight), the precautions to know, and our resources to go further.

Native to Southeast Asia, konjac has an appetite-suppressing effect and is therefore ideal as part of a slimming diet or to achieve a flat stomach. It is also detoxifying for the body and helps lower or stabilize cholesterol and blood sugar levels, since it is low in calories and rich in fiber.

What the science says: weight

What published research says about the remedies mentioned above, for context — these studies address material causes; healing belongs to Allah.

Weight

The Mediterranean diet (olive oil, vegetables, legumes, fish, few processed foods) is among the most effective and sustainable approaches for weight according to network meta-analyses (Clin Nutr ESPEN, 2024) (BMJ, 2020); intermittent fasting contributes to it as well (BMJ, 2025). The hadith on "a third for food, a third for drink, a third for air" remains the best rule. Precaution: be wary of "fat burners" and very restrictive diets; unexplained weight loss should be investigated.
