Remedies for “blocked fallopian tubes”

Remedies for “blocked fallopian tubes”: Professor Akim Bouterra's advice, along with what research says (fertility, linden, valerian and calming plants, circulation and heavy legs), the precautions to know, and our resources to go further.

The problem of proximal tubal blockage, commonly known as "blocked tubes," is generally caused by an infection, but can also be caused by fibroids or cysts.

In the past, castor oil was used for this kind of problem. It was applied to the lower abdomen using compresses soaked in the oil, the goal being to stimulate blood circulation. Today this oil is found in ointment form.

Activated charcoal can also be mentioned, used as a poultice once a week, left on overnight. This will help fight infections.

There is also a Chinese remedy called "Dong Quai," which is the ginseng of women. This relieves spasms of the tubes; it is found in capsules and 3 can be taken per day for three months. It will also help unblock the tubes.

In addition, ginger herbal teas will help stimulate blood circulation.

Hawthorn, which can be taken in capsule form at a rate of one per day in the evening, will also help fight poor blood circulation.

Furthermore, a technique based on an enzyme acting as a natural antibiotic can be used: serrapeptase. This should be taken in 500 mg capsules at a rate of one per day each morning, over a period of six months. It is generally derived from the silkworm. This technique aims to dissolve tissue affected by scarring, inflammation, or infection; and in the case of blocked tubes, this will help prevent fibrosis. This modern technique is widely used, and the goal is to replace chemical antibiotics with natural ones that are much more effective, especially since chemical antibiotics are themselves derived from bacteria, in other words from nature.

It is also recommended to fight stress using plants such as valerian, linden, or by reading or listening to the Qur'an.

Finally, in Muslim countries there is an ancient massage technique. This involves massaging the abdomen in order to unblock the tubes and must be performed by a professional.

What the science says: fertility, linden, valerian and calming herbs, circulation and heavy legs

What published research says about the remedies mentioned above, for informational purposes — the studies concern material causes, healing belongs to Allah.

Fertility

The Cochrane review shows that antioxidants (zinc, selenium, vitamins C and E, coenzyme Q10) may improve male fertility (Cochrane, 2022); lifestyle-related oxidative stress is a major cause of male infertility (World J Mens Health, 2019) and the Mediterranean diet supports female fertility (Am J Obstet Gynecol, 2023); an anti-inflammatory diet reduces endometriosis pain (Front Nutr, 2023). Precaution: hormonal herbs (chasteberry, sage, ginseng) should not be combined with an ART treatment without the medical team's approval; this should be a joint decision, over a minimum of three months.

Linden, valerian and calming herbs

Valerian improves sleep quality according to several meta-analyses (Am J Med, 2006) (J Evid Based Integr Med, 2020); linden contains anxiolytic flavonoids (J Ethnopharmacol, 2008), and a network review compares herbs against anxiety (passionflower, lemon balm, lavender…) (Pharmacol Res, 2022). Precaution: do not combine valerian, passionflower or hops with sleeping pills and anxiolytics without medical advice; avoid before driving; courses of a few weeks rather than continuous use.

Circulation and heavy legs

Horse chestnut extract relieves chronic venous insufficiency according to the Cochrane review (Glob Adv Health Med, 2012); red vine, witch hazel, cypress and fiber (against hemorrhoids) are the classic remedies, along with walking, leg elevation and cool water. Precaution: a leg that suddenly swells, becomes hot and painful may indicate a blood clot — this is an emergency; hemorrhoids that bleed regularly deserve a medical examination.
