Remedies for bullous lesions in the mouth

Remedies for bullous lesions in the mouth: Professor Akim Bouterra's advice, complemented by what research says (mouth and teeth), the precautions to know, and our resources to go further.

Ibn al-Qayyim states in his book that natural salt is a good treatment for blisters and sores on the tongue, as it reduces inflammation and pain, kills bacteria, and prevents infection. You can do thirty-second gargles after dissolving a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water.

Turmeric is also a natural antiseptic that relieves pain, and its powder can be applied directly to the blisters.

As for aloe vera gel, it is antibacterial. It should be applied to red blisters for three to four minutes.

In addition, chewing basil helps prevent blisters from forming in the mouth.

Finally, the problem may be due to a deficiency, in which case a course of vitamin B complex should be taken, one to two capsules in the morning after breakfast, for three months.

What the science says: mouth and teeth

What published research says about the remedies mentioned above, for context — the studies address material causes, while healing belongs to Allah.

Mouth and teeth

Siwak reduces plaque and gum inflammation (Saudi Med J, 2015) (J Ethnopharmacol, 2022); propolis is studied for oral health (J Funct Biomater, 2024) and honey for mouth sores. Salt water rinses, clove for tooth pain, less sugar: the basics. Precaution: a cavity, an abscess, or a gum that bleeds persistently needs to be treated by a dentist — natural remedies provide relief in the meantime, but they do not repair the problem.
