For external use, creams, sprays, or soaps made with chamomile and citrus essential oil can be used. A few drops of thyme essential oil, a natural antiseptic, can also be added to a vegetable oil and applied in the evening before showering, which will help fight odors.
The Arabs made frequent use of sage, which is effective against the germs responsible for bad odors; two cups of sage tea can be drunk per day. In addition, calendula powder talc can be used. Finally, it will be necessary to fight stress, which is one of the causes of sweating.
What the science says: hydration and heat
Here is what published research says about the remedies mentioned above, for illustration purposes — these studies concern material causes, while healing belongs to Allah.
Hydration and heat
Drinking enough water supports the kidneys, digestive transit (Am J Clin Nutr, 2022) and prevents kidney stones (Minerva Urol Nephrol, 2025); in very hot weather, water, water-rich fruits (watermelon, cucumber — favorites of the professor), shade, and rest during the hottest hours help prevent heatstroke. The Sunnah recommends drinking while seated, in three breaths, without excessive ice-cold water. Precaution: infants, the elderly, and people with chronic illnesses become dehydrated quickly; confusion, absence of urination, or a high temperature during a heat wave are warning signs.
