Many women are affected by hormonal imbalance, and this at any age.
To begin with, we should mention chasteberry and sage, which are very effective, and which should be taken as capsules, two per day for six months; the course should be interrupted during menstrual cycles.
As for soy, it is recommended more for women approaching menopause.
Next, there are four plants known for their effectiveness: marjoram, thyme, oregano, and mint. They can be mixed together or used on their own.
Marjoram is widely used in Asia and Egypt, while in the Maghreb thyme and oregano tend to be favored. However, marjoram remains one of the most effective for regulating female hormone levels.
In addition, to address any resulting hair loss, it is of course necessary to first regulate the hormonal imbalance, but also to support mineral intake by taking spirulina. Boron intake will also be beneficial, and using horsetail, organic silica, or even nettle, found in lotion or shampoo form, will be beneficial. For horsetail, it is best consumed in tablet form. As for organic silica, it can be found extracted directly from horsetail or nettle.
What the science says: medicinal plants, hair, and hair loss
What published research says about the remedies mentioned above, for context — these studies concern material causes, healing belongs to Allah.
Medicinal plants: using them well
Moringa, for example, has shown an effect on blood sugar according to a meta-analysis (Molecules, 2021) and its safety has been reviewed (Phytother Res, 2015); more generally, plants act — and therefore interact: the review of plants against anxiety (Pharmacol Res, 2022) or against painful periods (J Int Med Res, 2020) makes this clear. Precaution: respect the doses, avoid mixing many plants together, check compatibility with your medications, pregnancy or breastfeeding; buy plants of good quality, from a controlled source.
Hair and hair loss
Natural topical remedies for hair loss have been reviewed — rosemary oil, caffeine, and vegetable oils used as scalp massage are among the most studied (Int J Trichology, 2025); a global review catalogs the plants used by menopausal women (Front Pharmacol, 2025). Iron, zinc, protein, and vitamin D should be checked in cases of significant hair loss. Precaution: sudden or patchy hair loss requires a workup (thyroid, iron, deficiencies); results from natural care take 3 to 6 months to show.
