Remedies for prostate cancer

Remedies for prostate cancer: Professor Akim Bouterra's advice, complemented by what research says (cancer, prostate, medicinal mushrooms), the precautions to know, and our resources to go further.

A patient with prostate cancer, and undergoing chemotherapy, will need natural elements to boost immunity, such as the Chinese reishi, shiitake, or maitake mushrooms, which should be taken in a three-month course, three times a day after meals.

In order to strengthen the prostate, sesame oil taken in the morning on an empty stomach will be effective.

Additionally, it is possible to prepare a mixture with one kilogram of good honey, such as jujube honey from Yemen, into which 25 grams of ground organic pumpkin seeds, 25 grams of ground bee pollen, and 25 grams of ground black seed will be added, and this mixture should then be taken on an empty stomach in the morning as well as in the evening before going to bed, one tablespoon per serving.

As for chemotherapy, melon extract, known as Extramel, will help the patient cope with the side effects of treatment such as nausea, vomiting, and weakness. There are laboratories that offer Extramel capsules, with a dosage of one to two capsules.

What the science says: cancer, prostate, medicinal mushrooms

What published research says about the remedies mentioned above, for context only — studies address material causes, while healing belongs to Allah.

Cancer: supporting care without replacing it

Diet plays a role in the prevention of several cancers according to an umbrella review of meta-analyses (Nat Commun, 2021); curcumin, black seed, and medicinal mushrooms are studied as complements to treatment (Int J Mol Sci, 2024) (Molecules, 2023), and the Mediterranean diet supports patients. Precaution: no natural remedy replaces anticancer treatment; certain plants and high-dose antioxidants may interfere with chemotherapy — any course should be decided together with the oncologist. The Sagesse au Naturel practice offers complementary cancer follow-up.

The prostate

Pumpkin seeds and saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) are the most studied natural remedies for benign prostatic hyperplasia; trial results are mixed, but a recent review clarifies their place (World J Mens Health, 2024) (BJU Int, 2012). Nettle, lycopene (tomato), zinc, and selenium round things out. Precaution: any urinary trouble in men after age 50 warrants a workup (PSA testing, examination) before pursuing natural remedies.

Medicinal mushrooms

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) and other medicinal mushrooms contain beta-glucans and triterpenes with immunomodulatory effects, critically reviewed (Phytother Res, 2021) (Biomolecules, 2022) (Molecules, 2023) — hence their place in the immune-support courses the professor recommends. Precaution: quality and origin should be verified; use caution with immunosuppressive treatment, anticoagulants, or before surgery; courses of 2 to 3 months rather than continuous use.
