Natural tips and treatments for seborrheic dermatitis

Natural tips and treatments for seborrheic dermatitis: Professor Akim Bouterra's advice, complemented by what the research says (natural skin care), the precautions to know, and our resources to go further.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a benign condition that affects the skin, characterized by red patches accompanied by a kind of flaking on the surface of the skin. Flare-ups of seborrheic dermatitis usually appear on the face, torso, and scalp.

However, skin conditions reveal a dysfunction of major organs such as the liver, the colon, and the kidneys.
For this reason, undertaking a complete detox course for these 3 vital organs, and putting good dietary habits in place, is essential.

Beyond that, you should also favor eating foods rich in fiber, green vegetables, amino fatty acids, and include vitamin E.

In addition, you should eliminate saturated fats and sugars from your diet.

Finally, for external use, treatment will rely on the use of antifungal products (shampoos and creams), and oils such as borage oil or safflower oil to moisturize and heal your skin.

What the science says: natural skin care

What published research says about the remedies mentioned above, for context—these studies address material causes, while healing belongs to Allah.

Natural skin care

Aloe vera promotes healing and soothes the skin according to a review of clinical trials (Iran J Med Sci, 2019) (Plast Reconstr Surg, 2018); in eczema, daily moisturizing with emollients is the foundation of treatment (Int J Dermatol, 2025) and the skin microbiome plays a central role (J Eur Acad Dermatol Venereol, 2023). Olive oil, black seed oil, honey, and shea butter are the traditional emollients. Precaution: test any new product on a small area for 24 hours; a lesion that spreads, oozes, or becomes infected should be seen by a doctor.
